HomeTime-Saving Firefox Extensions
Having already covered a variety of firefox extensions, including security and web developer extensions, it is now time to cover a list of other useful and time-saving extensions.
Scrapbook
This is definitely one of my favourite extensions. If you regularly complete transactions online and it requests you to print an invoice page, then save your ink, scrapbook it instead. Scrapbook, unlike bookmarking, caches the actual page, not the link and stores it to your computer. You can capture multiple tabs or snippets and can organise your pages within the sidebar, export them, combine them and even edit them by removing certain elements, highlight sections and store notes with them. Just think of the time, paper and ink that you can save.
PDF Download
PDF Download gives you ultimate control over how you want to deal with PDF files. It allows you to simply download it, view it in either PDF or HTML. Not only that you can convert any unsecured web page to a PDF document. A greater and faster way to handle those PDF’s.
FoxyTunes
With FoxyTunes you can control your music player from within your browser. Has support for the majority of music players including windows media, ITunes, Winamp, Real Player and many more. It is also compatible with the Mac and Linux. Some of it’s features include having full control of your music software, displays accurate track information and integrates well with the FoxyTunes planet website to find information on all of your music tastes.
Delicious
Export your bookmarks to the web so that you can access them from anywhere. Very handy if you have multiple computers in your household or indeed you have an extensive list that you don’t want to lose. Once uploaded you can keep them private or share bookmarks with other people. Easily find your tagged bookmarks through this extension and have peace of mind that you will never lose them again.
Password Exporter
Ever lost all of your passwords and had to go through the procedure of having to click on the forgotten password link? Then this is a simple tool for you. Simply export and encrypt your passwords to a XML or CSV file and there is your backup. Of course there are plenty of other tools out there that do the job but this one is definitely the simplest of them all. Use with caution though and store your exported files sensibly as you don’t want them ending up in the wrong hands!
Speed Dial
Want simple quick access to your favourite pages? Then this is the extension for you. Speed dial can be set as your hompepage and from within that you can add all of your favourite sites for quick access. Just click on a thumbnail and that site will load up for you. Highly customisable to suit all needs.
InForm Enter
Tired of repeatedly entering data into forms? InForm enter can store all of your information for you. By clicking on the little icon that appears next to a text input field you can select the data that you want displayed and vice versa. You can import/export your data and have multiple profiles.
Cooliris
Do you ever browse through images? Save time by using cooliris. It displays all images on a canvas in a cinematic way from which you can scroll through, zoom, read captions with ease.
Feed Sidebar
Feed Sidebar is a lightweight extension that enhances the firefox live bookmark feeds. Integrated into the sidebar this extension has a built in filter function, allows you to limit the amount of feeds displayed, notifies you of broken feeds and errors and with a simple context menu which you can open a feed or multiple feeds, mark as read or unsubscribe.
Easy DragToGo
This extension makes opening links a breeze. Instead of right clicking on a link and selecting open in..new tab, window etc. just click and drag the link upwards and it will automatically open in a new tab. You can configure it anyway you want and you can also open text and images in a new tab.
