Get Your Computer in Tip Top Shape with a Little Spring Cleaning

While most people welcome spring as a chance to do a little housecleaning, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to take that same approach with your desktop or laptop. Just like your house, the clutter can start to add up on your computer and lead to a whole bunch of problems, the computer running much slower than normal, and a general sense of disorganisation. To help you get through the process we’ve provided a few simple steps you can follow.

Desktop Spring Cleaning

Go Through Your List of Programs

Over time, the number of programs you have on your computer can really add up. Not only do they take up space but they also slow down your computer. It’s a good idea to go through your list of programs and make sure you uninstall any that you don’t need or use. Keep in mind they need to be uninstalled, not deleted.

Go Through Your Folders

This is also a great time to go through all your folders and look for any files you no longer want or need. Get rid of anything unnecessary, and consider moving content to an external hard drive to free up space.

Run the Disk Clean Up Tool

This handy tool is one that comes built into your computer and is meant to search through your files and get rid of ones that aren’t necessary. What’s great is that you don’t have to do anything other than giving permission for the disk clean-up to run.

Go Through Photos and Videos

Another huge space user is the photo and video files that are stored on your hard drive. Consider storing them in the cloud, burning them to a disc, or moving them on to an external hard drive. Once this is done, you can delete the files that are sitting on your desktop/laptop.

Get Rid of Temporary Files

For those who don’t really consider themselves techies, the temporary folder is something you’ve probably never thought of or opened. This is where all your temporary files sit, and because it happens each time you use your computer, these files add up real fast. The end result is that your computer will be quite slow. Make sure to get rid of these, as well as your Internet cookies and history. You’ll see an increase in speed and space available on your hard drive.

Celebrate All Your Hard Work

Now that you’ve put in the time to clean up your computer and get it running fast and smooth again, it’s time to have a little fun. The new Ladbroke’s Spring Cleaning game is a fabulous way to celebrate your accomplishment thanks to its addictive gameplay, fun graphics, and unique theme.

Make it a Yearly Task

As for our final tip, you may want to schedule a yearly reminder in your calendar to do this spring cleaning of your computer. By tackling the task on a yearly basis, you’ll be sure to catch things before they get too out of hand.

Keep in mind, for the optimum amount of benefits you’ll want to complete each of these steps rather than just one or two.
