Arxan and iThreat Cyber Group have published The Application Security report detailing how the illegal reproduction and distribution of copyrighted material (piracy) on the web is growing rapidly. Over 1000 sites have been analyzed over the past 3.5 years are part of the dark web which is not indexed by standard search engines. 50 are in the business of distributing pirated releases.

WOW Weekly – Apple Brought Down by The XcodeGhost

Welcome to this weeks edition of WOW Weekly. Apple were brought back down to earth this week after hackers tricked developers into downloading a modified version of Xcode (XcodeGhost) which was used to create the iOS apps. Apple ended on a high releasing the iPhone 6s to the public and pushed out a minor update to their latest iOS 9. Gnome has released a new version of their popular desktop and tool of the week is pretty useful if you are a blogger.

Feedburner Finally Binned From My WordPress Blog

2After 7 years of using feedburner I have finally decided to switch. Google haven’t yet killed off feedburner entirely but having announced that they are no longer going to support or update it. Like many people who are flocking to alternatives I thought I would jump on the bandwagon. Obviously switching to something new can be quite problematic and true I did encounter a couple of problems and here is how I solved them.

Ampps For Mac – Update to 3.3 Manually Without Re-installing

Ampps is a fantastic piece of software if you want to run a testing server but upgrading on the mac has always been pretty awkward. The first time I upgraded, back when I was a Mac newbie, I deleted all of my files by accident! Luckily I had created a backup first. The good news is Mac users can download and install the update from a compressed file so there is no need to install from the disk image again.

WOW Weekly – Google Bring us the OnHub & More

Welcome to WOW weekly. This week’s edition I will be focusing on the OnHub and I have introduced a couple of new sections Tool of the Week and New Releases in Brief.  Since I last posted we have had the summer holidays, 2 weeks of which we visited family in England, our first visit since Shaun passed away, and I have also started a new job in a school which has been really rewarding and it’s also lovely to socialise and meet new people.   Anyhow I have decided to collect a few items from the past week and wrap it all up in my weekly blog post. No Android Lollipop for Samsung Note 2 and S3

Samsung have confirmed that there will be no lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3.  This is frustrating if  you look forward to having the latest updates and features or that you feel phone has never quite reached its potential. If you like experimenting then you might be interested in installing a custom rom which can actually increase your phones performance and removes all unnecessary bloat.
