Navigating the WordPress plugin directory to find the right time saving plugin can be difficult. Some people may think that there is too much choice whereas some will think there is not enough. Over the past couple of weeks, I have tested some top time-saving WordPress plugins from just under the 28,000 plugins that are on offer from the WordPress plugins directory to save you time, boost your productivity and possibly make your blog even better.
Top Time Saving WordPress Plugins
CookieYes | GDPR Cookie Consent & Compliance Notice
The GDPR cookie consent plugin is one of the best solutions that make it easy to achieve cookie compliance with major privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, CNIL, POPIA and more.
With the plugin, you can have customisable cookie banners, cookie scanners, auto-cookie blockers, and more. The premium version offers additional features such as Geo IP based cookie notice exclusion, cookie consent log, etc.
Broken Link Checker
This plugin will monitor and search for broken links in your posts, pages, comments, blogroll and custom fields and notify you either in the WordPress dashboard or by email. Links can be edited directly from the plugin page without having to manually update the post, page etc.
UpdraftPlus – WordPress Backup and Restoration
Updraft is backup and restoration software that will back up all of your themes, plugins and database to an external storage solution with, S3, Dropbox, Google Drive, Rackspace, FTP, SFTP, email and more. Updraft can be set to backup your data, from the comfort of your WordPress dashboard to a schedule that suits you with the option to encrypt your database for that added safety measure. Failed uploads will automatically be resumed. No more need to manually backup your data with FTP or PHPMyAdmin.
Outbound Link Manager
The Outbound Link Manager is aimed at SEO managers to monitor external outbound links in your posts and pages, easily allowing you to bulk add or remove a nofollow tag, update anchor texts, or remove links altogether. If you are not sure what follow/nofollow links you have in your blog then this will save you from having to manually search for the links in your posts and pages.
Infinite WP may be installed on any server, including your own development server which enables you to bulk manage and upgrade plugins and themes, do one-click updates, instant backup and restore of all of your blogs and more. Saves you time logging in and out of each website to update them manually.
Google Analytics Dashboard
Having multiple Google analytics accounts may be rather time-consuming looking up the stats for each individual site, which would easily get forgotten about. With the Google Analytics widget, you can view detailed info and statistics about the number of visits, number of visitors, bounce rates, organic searches, pages per visit directly on your Admin Dashboard.
Theme Test Drive
This is a handy plugin for developers to test their newly built theme on your WordPress installation before it goes live. It’s also generally handy if you want to try out a new theme. Any user-level/role can be set to view the theme or just enable the administrator. With the added option you can also access the theme by adding a simple string to the end of your URL. Great if you want to test the theme on multiple browsers/operating systems without having to sign in.
Google Pagespeed Insights
Check your Google Pagespeed from within the admin area of your WordPress. Just simply add your Google API key and set it to check all posts and pages and the plugin will tell you your page speed score of each individual post or page and how to make it even better. No need to check each individual URL again.
WordPress SEO is one of the most popular WordPress SEO plugins in the plugin directory. However, I have come across another WordPress extension to enhance the plugin even further. SEO content helper is another plugin that works alongside WordPress SEO extension to analyse and help you write your content.
Although WP CleanFix is bundled in with the new WPXtreme the promo version is still available as a single plugin from the WordPress Plugin Directory. WP Cleanfix is easy to understand yet with a simple but intuitive user interface that helps you optimize and remove all the junk, Post revisions, meta-data etc. from your database.
At times looking at the default WordPress interface can be tiresome. Some people, including myself, like to manually code my posts then use the WYSIWYG interface. WP editor enables you to have a proper code edit look, like Aptana, Dreamweaver, Coda etc. with features such as line numbers, syntax highlighting, from within your post, theme and plugin editors. Boost your productivity with lots of options and themes available to suit your personal preference.
Adding shortcodes to your WordPress post or page couldn’t be easier with this plugin. Shortcodes Ultimate comes loaded with over 40 pre-defined shortcodes where you can easily create and edit tabs, buttons, boxes, sliders, responsive videos and much more.
Obviously with all the 27,888 plugins, at the time of writing, on offer I may have missed a few so please feel free to add your own top time-saving WordPress plugins in the comments section.
