The following infographic, based on Arxan’s automotive IoT page, details the vulnerabilities of the connected car. By the year 2020, it is estimated that 75% of all cars will have internet connectivity. Taking this on board this leaves the door open for hackers who will exploit this technology.

Welcome to this week’s edition of WOW weekly, featuring LogMeIn, Apple, the number 7 and a Microsoft trade-in! This particular edition should be renamed to fortnightly as last week I devoted time to having a good clear out (home wise) and spending time with my children during the first week of their school holidays. I also managed to upgrade to El Capitan which was well worth the upgrade! Sadly I’ve given up trying to install Windows 10 on my aging 5-year-old laptop.
Arxan and iThreat Cyber Group have published The Application Security report detailing how the illegal reproduction and distribution of copyrighted material (piracy) on the web is growing rapidly. Over 1000 sites have been analyzed over the past 3.5 years are part of the dark web which is not indexed by standard search engines. 50 are in the business of distributing pirated releases.
Ampps is a fantastic piece of software if you want to run a testing server but upgrading on the mac has always been pretty awkward. The first time I upgraded, back when I was a Mac newbie, I deleted all of my files by accident! Luckily I had created a backup first. The good news is Mac users can download and install the update from a compressed file so there is no need to install from the disk image again.
Welcome to WOW Weekly. This week’s news covers PayPal getting on the Pay through a URL bandwagon and guess who got a new logo? Tool of the week is in the form of a windows migration tool and not forgetting our New releases in Brief section.
When Google announced that it was going to shut down its popular Google Reader in July 2013 some said that it would be the death of RSS. However 2 years on RSS is still pretty popular and it still serves a purpose in the modern web.
If you have, or want, brackets installed on multiple operating systems (OS) then it could be rather cumbersome having to manually install all your favourite extensions. Enter Brackets-ExtensionsBulkInstall a handy brackets extension which enables the bulk installation of extensions and themes on other platforms. In the following tutorial I will be exporting from a Mac to a Linux machine
As a big fan of open source software I was quite excited when Brackets, a code editor, founded by Adobe, was initially released in November 2014. Released for Mac, Windows and Linux and is guided by a community of fans, that are willing to improve and build upon it. Since it’s release I have tested many extensions but here are some of my favourites, for a bonus I’ll throw in the ones that will make Brackets more visually appealing.
Over the years smartphones are more sophisticated and so too are the apps that you can purchase for them. Having had a pretty tough time lately, sleep was one of the things that was affected in a big way. Having barely slept in January and struggling to get back into a pattern of having several hours sleep in one go, waking up groggy and disinterested in life as a result. In the beginning of March I decided to buy an iPhone app to monitor my sleep (or lack of), something that I would say I was quite pessimistic about to start with but would the app have any effect?
