Software tools play a pivotal role in web development, from code editors to graphic design suites. Innovations in software technology enable developers and designers to work more efficiently, prototype rapidly, and debug with precision. With the rise of cloud-based solutions and integrated development environments, collaboration and deployment have become more streamlined than ever.
When a new operating system is released you question yourself. Do I really need an upgrade? How easy is it? Do I dive in or wait for the mass participation to die down? Do I research blogs to find the good, bad and ugly, will it put me off? I guess the answer is all of them. Here is my experience with my recent Yosemite upgrade on my 2-year-old Mac.

In this weeks review I am testing out X-Mirage which has recently been released for the PC. X-Mirage is an AirPlay receiver which allows you to mirror your iOS device(s) to your PC or Mac Screen. Currently X-Mirage costs $16 USD for both the Mac and PC Version and supports iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S and iPod touch (5th generation).
Even the tidiest of users who own a Mac may have files scattered across several folders on your hard drive. Ever tried finding a file through spotlight or even manually tried to look for a file. Giant’s LogMeIn have recently axed their free remote desktop software and offered users a subscription only offer. No doubt LogMeIn is very useful and popular for business owners but by axing their free version they are bound to lose a lot of customers that won’t want to upgrade to the subscription based service especially if you only need to fix one or two computers several times a year.

Converseen is a all-in-one batch image conversion, compressing and resizing tool that is available for both Linux (Source and PPA) and Windows. Like many web designers having to process images to make them suitable for the web you may have to use a variety of different tools, I have used Shrink-O-Matic to batch resize my images, GIMP and it’s save for web plugin to compress individual images and also Trimage batch image processor. Having to use 2 or more tools to convert, compress and resize images can be very time consuming so having a tool to do all of those jobs for you will be extremely productive.
No doubt you will have heard of spam, phishing, viruses and trojans by now. After all they are constantly a threat to our security and it is the main reason why we have firewalls and anti-viruses on our computers. Threats are not entirely computer based though you may be also subject to telephone calls from people pretending to be from your ISP or even from Microsoft themselves! Be aware of the scammer!
